Vet Visit Today we had a vet visit our classroom and share about her exciting job!  We would like to thank Dr.Makwana for sharing her expertise with us.  We got to look at X-rays of animals and investigate what we thought the problem was and discussed how to treat the animals in need.  We learned that we need to be calm around animals and how to check and see what is wrong as they are not able to talk to us.  We used our stuffies to practice doing a check up and bandaging their wounds.  Some of the questions we asked were: Do vets know how to fix pets? Where do you work? How do you fix a pet? What kind of pets do you take care of? What do we need to open our own vet clinic? Check it out...  How many eggs in the turtle?                   Brushing a hippos teeth.   Before/After

Lockdown Drill Today the afternoon class practiced their first lockdown drill.  When we have a lockdown drill, we close the door and all sit in the special spot as quietly as possible until an assigned person opens the door for us. Canadian Animals We had many new science centers today.  Check out the pictures below to see some of them. Literacy Today we read the story I Want My Hat Back by, Jon Klassen.   We stopped reading the story part way through to have the students make their reasonable predictions on what happened and record their observations in their visual journals. Math We are starting our days with number recognition and counting one-to-one activities. Special Visitor This Thursday, November 28, we have a special visitor. Please send ONE stuffed animal with your child's name on it to school on Thursday. No School  this Friday, for a school PD day.  Kindergarten Christmas Concert Thursday, December 12

Thursday, November 7 This week we read The Peace Book by Todd Parr.  We each thought of something that made us feel peaceful.  It could have been something we do, someone we know, or something we have. We then each made our own Peace Is... page.  Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. McEvoy have gathered all the pages and put them into a book which will be on display during Parent Teacher Conferences. Speaking of Parent Teacher Conferences, they will be held on Thursday, November 21 and Friday November 22. You will be able to book online like last time.  The office will be sending you out an email to let you know when booking opens. A reminder that this Friday, November 8 is for AM kindergarten.  Also on the Friday, we will be having our Remembrance Day ceremony at 10:30 with the whole school. If you wish to send a donation to the Poppy Fund, you may do so on Friday morning. In Phys. Ed this week, Mrs. Miller had us testing out new skills on the climbing wall.  Check out all of our pictures

Here is what we are doing in room 180... Every week we have a new morning activity that we incorporate into our morning routine.  This week we are using loose parts to trace our names.  Check it out. As we get better at this we are using the loose parts to create a pattern over our names.  Our class goal by the end of October was to write our names using 1 upper case and the rest lower case.  Ask your child to show you their progress.   Center time is one of our favourites...
