Sorry we are late...


So much has been happening in preparation for our upcoming concert tomorrow.  Just a reminder that doors will open at 4:30 pm tomorrow for the concert.  Children should be dropped off at their classroom and picked up afterwards from the same classroom. Dress rehearsals will take place in the AM at (10:15) and the pm at (1:00).  We strongly encourage extended family to attend the dress rehearsal performances.  Hope to see you all there!


Christmas has arrived in the classroom, check out some of our centers...  We continue to work on fine motor practice, cooperative play, sensory engagement, letter sound relationships and number recognition.  Ask your child what their favorite center is...

We have been busy learning all about the river and fish.  We recently completed an art project based on a fish feelings book we read in class.  Our job was to use a pencil to draw a fish as big as our paper.  We then used the oil pastels to add color to our fish and cover all the pencil marks.  Then we recorded how our fish felt and why... "My fish feels mad because someone invaded his territory!" We have also had the pleasure of welcoming a new student teacher to our classroom, Mrs. Mantler!  She has been teaching an author study on Mo Willems.  Ask you child what their favourite Mo Willems character is so far... We read Slop Soup by, Mo Willems and made our own class version of Slop Soup.  We discussed characters, recipes, more than and less than, speech bubbles and feelings.  So many fun ways to learn!

Center Fun Over the past couple of weeks we have been investigating all things snow.  Check out some of our fun learning through play! Reading winter books. Making snowflakes out of shapes. Building igloos with foam blocks and shaving cream. Tracing snowflakes. Building snowforts. Investigating what happens when we add salt to ice. Making snowflakes with loose parts. How can you help at home... We have been focusing on letter sound relationships and matching upper and lowercase letters.  Please reinforce this at home with your child.  Suggestions: 1. Play memory with upper and lowercase letter pairs. 2. Go on a scavenger hunt finding objects that begin with each letter of the alphabet or place letter stickies all over the house and find the matching upper and lowercase. 3.
